In 1906, Theodore Roosevelt wore one of those equatorian hats while visiting the construction of Panama canal. His picture was seen around the world and this masterpiece became known as the Panama Hat.
Handwoven in Ecuador, this flexible hat is made of fibers from the Carludovica Palmata, called Toquilla. The craftsmen take between some days and some months to manufacture one hat, depending on the weave count, using only the finest selected natural straw fibers. Today, you find Panama Hats in many different styles, for women and men, all around the world.
